Good Hotel Guide Review
Ethical hospitality is a priority at this ‘friendly, really special’ hotel, in a handsome Victorian villa close to the seafront. From the community vegetable garden and sustainably sourced furnishings to the solar panels and beehives on the roof, a green ethos has been built in to the place. Smart bedrooms (some snug) are decorated in pleasing, earthy tones; they have ‘crisp’ organic bed linens, ‘soft pillows’ and ‘proper fluffy Fairtrade-cotton towels’. ‘We were delighted we weren’t provided with pointless single-use-plastic toiletry bottles.’ The Arbor restaurant serves food all day; naturally, chef Andy Hilton’s unfussy modern menus use organic, Fairtrade and locally sourced ingredients. The result: ‘delicious’.
