Good Hotel Guide Review
Sustainability is the new black at this handsome Victorian villa with pristine green credentials. The garden is eco-aware, the roof sports solar panels and beehives – fuelling breakfast in more ways than one. In the smart bedrooms, some snug, there are, of course, harmonious earth tones and eco prints. Organic bedlinen and natural materials are cossetingly cool and contemporary. The best rooms have a reclaimed Victorian tub, but all receive the morning-fresh biscuits. In the Arbor restaurant chef Andy Hilton’s unfussy, modern menus use organic, Fairtrade and locally sourced ingredients in such dishes as Creedy Carver duck breast, confit leg suet pudding, garlic mashed potatoes. Breakfast keeps the bar high and green.
