Good Hotel Guide Review
A former cheese-making farm, where Sally and Simon Tait ‘warmly welcome’ visitors to their ‘well-appointed’, ‘very affordable’ B&B, offers ‘wonderful views of the moorlands’. ‘A good centre for exploring the area.’ Twitchers can take their field book into the conservatory lounge, from where many bird species can be spotted flitting about in the gardens. The ‘spacious’, country-style bedrooms have ‘ample storage’, ‘adequate lighting’; ‘even the loo’ has sweeping views of the surrounding fells. Freshly cooked breakfasts, ordered the night before, are ‘excellent’: farm-fresh eggs, home-made bread, loose-leaf tea, local bacon and sausages. The hosts are a wealth of local information, including dining hotspots in neighbouring Dolphinholme.
