Good Hotel Guide Review
‘Wonderful moorland views’ surround Sally and Simon Tait’s ‘well-appointed’, ‘very affordable’ B&B, on a former cheese-making farm on the edge of the Forest of Bowland. ‘It’s a good centre for exploring the area,’ say guests in 2017 – and a ‘haven’ for birdwatchers: many bird species can be spotted from the comfort of the conservatory lounge. Arrive to a ‘warm welcome’, then settle in to one of the ‘spacious’, country-style bedrooms: each has ‘ample storage’, ‘adequate lighting’, and panoramic views of the surrounding fells (‘even from the loo!’). Wake to an ‘excellent’, freshly cooked breakfast (ordered the night before) of farm-fresh eggs, home-made bread, loose-leaf tea and local bacon and sausages. 8 miles from the city. Dinner in neighbouring Dolphinholme gets a thumbs-up.
