Good Hotel Guide Review
Paul Kitching and Katie O’Brien’s well-regarded restaurant-with-rooms occupies a finely refurbished Georgian town house facing the Royal Terrace Gardens. Airy spaces have a laid-back glamour: a vast Caravaggio copy here; a sculpted Greek-style head there; still elsewhere, a dazzling chandelier. Sit with an aperitif in the first-floor drawing room before heading in to the elegant dining room for Paul Kitching’s Michelin-rated weekly-changing menu. On the cards, perhaps: saffron risotto, chive oil; baked scallops, shellfish bisque. On the top two levels of the house, large, crisply styled bedrooms each have a sitting area and views over the garden or towards the firth – just the place to digest, and rest.
