Come for the Michelin-starred cooking, stay for the well-appointed rooms and excellent location. Chef/patron Paul Kitching and his partner, Katie O’Brien, run their restaurant-with-rooms in a Georgian town house facing the Royal Terrace Gardens. Accommodation is in large bedrooms, each with ample seating, and city or garden views through tall windows. Look across the gardens to the Firth of Forth while sipping an aperitif in the handsome first-floor drawing room; three-, four- and five-course dinners are from a limited-choice, weekly-changing menu of intriguing modern dishes: chicken curry, peas, pines; pintade, bacon, mustard, bread sauce.
