Good Hotel Guide Review
‘A hidden treasure.’ On the banks of the Cuckmere river, this handsome, extensively enlarged old farmhouse is run ‘with the highest standards of hospitality'. Comfortable bedrooms (many with a refurbished bathroom) may be snug, but feel expansive, thanks to views over ‘beautifully cared-for’ gardens. A ‘small but well-balanced menu’ of ‘exceptional’ modern British dishes is served in the refined restaurant or more informally by a log fire in the bar. In fine weather, afternoon tea and alfresco meals are enjoyed in the Victorian garden. Terraces have plenty of seating. At the foot of the South Downs national park, outdoor exploration beckons, sustained by ‘enormous’ portions of ‘good traditional stuff’ at breakfast.
