Good Hotel Guide Review
On the outskirts of a picturesque Sussex village stands this ‘handsome, extensively enlarged’ old farmhouse, run by ‘friendly, attentive staff’. ‘Clean, comfortable bedrooms’ can be ‘a bit small’ but nevertheless feel expansive, thanks to ‘splendid views of the ornamental gardens’. The outdoor spaces deserve exploration, with a meandering brook, a croquet lawn and a putting green. Terraces have ‘plenty of seating’. Mealtimes feature a ‘small but well-balanced menu’ of modern British dishes; puddings are ‘perfection on a plate’. ‘We enjoyed excellent light plates in the relaxing, quiet bar.’ Breakfast on ‘good traditional stuff’, in ‘enormous’ portions.
