Good Hotel Guide Review
Country walks and cream teas are the order of the day at this family-run hotel, which stands in large grounds on the banks of the Cuckmere river. In good weather, enjoy eating on the terrace; when the temperature dips, retreat to a spot by the log fire with a local ale or a glass of Sussex sparkling wine. Modern British dishes are served in the cosy bar, and in the evening and at weekend lunchtimes, in the refined restaurant. Bedrooms in the extensively enlarged old farmhouse vary in size. Every room is individually styled; the best overlook the ‘beautifully cared-for’ gardens. After a hearty breakfast, take a dip in the heated outdoor pool (open May–Sept), or tackle the South Downs Way, which runs through the village.
