Good Hotel Guide Review

Vibrantly colourful inside, Rob and Roberta Aitken’s handsome Victorian B&B occupies a historic mill village near Darley Abbey. Help-yourself home-made brownies and books galore add allure to plush seating in the vivid blue snug; all around, something to catch the eye: playful animal-themed curios, a large tiled fireplace, a wood bar. B&B guests stay in simple, grey-toned bedrooms or in spacious, design-led rooms (feature wallpaper, bright cushions, soft fabrics) in the stable annexe; one has a Juliet balcony, another access to the charming garden. ‘Rustic’ breakfast, in a calming green-hued room, includes fresh juice, ‘creamy yogurt, delicious warmed red berry coulis’. In sum, ‘Plenty of style, a very useful place for Derby.’
