Good Hotel Guide Review
A tranquil retreat from the bustle of nearby St Ives, Mark and Fenella Thomas’s chic Edwardian house stands on a steep hill above Carbis Bay. Well-equipped bedrooms share a smart, airy style, but are otherwise individual. A garden room has loungers on a private deck; in another, beach views are best admired from a broad window seat; yet another, while compact, has a freestanding roll-top bath in a spacious bathroom. Home-made cake is delivered to the room each afternoon; in clement weather, borrow a book or a magazine from the lounge to read in a garden hammock, or sip a complimentary aperitif. Hearty Cornish breakfasts (including a weekly special) kick-start the day with a view across the water.
