Good Hotel Guide Review
On a steep hill above Carbis Bay, Mark and Fenella Thomas’s chic Edwardian house is a tranquil retreat from lively St Ives nearby. The snug lounge has an honesty bar, plus books and magazines to browse; in good weather, loll about in a garden hammock – complimentary aperitif optional. Each of the well-equipped bedrooms (dressing gowns, a coffee machine, fresh milk, etc) is individually decorated in a smart, airy style. Choose a room with beachy views from a broad window seat, perhaps, or one, off the rear courtyard garden, with sun loungers on a private deck; in every room, home-baked cake turns up at teatime. Hearty Cornish breakfasts (including a weekly special) kick-start the day with a view across the water.
